So here I was recently separated, two kids and a mortgage and bills to pay.  I found myself parted from the last couple of thousand pounds of my rainy day money signing up to a home business that I felt fit in with my ideals.

I was extremely excited by it all, I was already a business owner, but my other business was as an IT Contractor.  So my products was ME.  Now, it was great being an IT Contractor because I was making between £70k and £90K a year (translates to around $90 – 120k a year)

So why was someone who was making all this money wanting to have a home business?

Well, it was not all about the money for me.  I saw the money as a necessity.  I was a single mother who had two young children and a huge mortgage to pay, therefore I had to replace another salary that had been lost when my husband left.  If I could find a way to earn the same income and be at home with my kids I would have done so.

When I came across Network Marketing, this so connected with me, as I could see the potential for me to replace my full time income and work from home.

***Gold Nugget*** Don’t be afraid to approach people who are seen to be high income earners,  because they too could be looking for a solution to work less hours, earn the same kind of income and spend more time doing what they want to do, be it spending time with family or otherwise. ***

So, going back to how I made my first £500.  You see the market I had gotten into was nutrition, and we had consumable products that you had to sell.  You also had to stock pile these products where you could, and sell them before the sell by date… fun days! (not..)

I kind of panicked a bit, because had never done cold selling before.  So How many times have you heard that as a Network Marketer? lol 

However, I was highly motivated.  Why?

I had a big why to fulfil. 

I wanted to work from home so bad, because I was missing my kids grow up and needed to have a plan B just in case I didn’t get another contract straight away.  

So, when I was told to ‘make a list’… yes I did!

However, I just couldn’t make it to the phone and dial!

So, instead I looked at other ways I could do this business, I sent out posters, leaflets, business cards, and even had posters in my car. 

One of the things that really worked for me, was word of mouth.  You see, I had started to use the products and people were seeing a difference in the way I looked, and even my complexion looked more healthy.  So, when someone asked what I was doing to look so good, I naturally then talked about my business and the products, and guess what. 

I started to get results.  In under a month I made £500 just by word of mouth, telling people about the products I used and how I had lost weight using them. 

So in my first month I must have had over 15 customers, and then my sponsor said to me, why not make some of them distributors, they are sending you their friends aren’t they? 

So instead of them sending their friends to me, I turned it back on them, ‘hey Jane you do know that if you became a distributor you could be earning commission on the sales that your friend Erma buys’.  Jane turned around and said, yes, that makes a lot of sense.  So, that is how I started my team and started to build duplication.

***Gold Nugget*** Use other peoples time and leverage this in order to create duplication. If you market using simply stupid methods, like do, tell and show, word of mouth then  these are easily duplicable and don’t require technical skills. ***

Just by recruiting my customers, within the next month, I had earned a thousand pounds with their commission and with a host of customers.  It was the beginning of fulfilling my dream for me.  I could see this network marketing this working out.

My team also duplicated what I was doing by recruiting their customers and by word of mouth, so this helped my organisation to grow.

The key really is to get duplication going in your business, leveraging other peoples time is one of the things that will help you work towards that first $1-5k or 10k and beyond month.

Now watch out for Episode 5 where over the next few days I will share, how I was able to increase my income where people where not interested in my business or products.

One of the most key principles in my starting to make headway in network marketer was changing the way I thought….

You see, it started to make sense to me when my upline referred me to a book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.  This book helped me to transform my mind and my business literally. 

You see most marketers when they first start their online business have an employee mentality. They struggle with how to set up their business, and don't know what to expet. 

The reality of the time needed to spend on your start up in business is not really thought through.

The reality is, you have to 'go back to school' , lots of reading, watching videos and taking action on the things you are picking up.

You would not expect a doctor to spend an hour a day studying and then become qualified in a matter of months do you?  It takes them 5-7 years of study before they qualify then they spend more years to become a specialist.  

I found in the early days I was spending over 16 hours a week if not more on setting up my home business.  Instead of being with my family, I was being taken away from them.  Many network marketers when they first start out feel this way.

There is a sharp learning curve you have to make and some sacrifices you have to take when you first start out.  Everyone, your partner, your kids, your family and friends have to be on board with the fact that you are starting out in business, and therefore have to put alot of time and effort into it, which means less time for them in the short term, but for a long term gain.

If your nearest and dearest are not on board, you may find it difficult to get your business off the ground. 

Try and get them involved with some of the activity you do.

In order for you to succeed when you work for yourself you need to develop an employer mentality.

You are the CEO of your company, you set your marketing strategy, your advertising costs, your Brand, the direction your business is going to go, whether you are going to be a 6 figure turnover company or a 7 figure turn over company, it is all down to you.

As employees, we are always told what we should be doing next, we are not given a say in how the company is run, or how to increase the profit margins, instead we are given targets to meet, and if you don't meetyour targets you get kicked off with poor performance.

When you are a business owner, the shoe is on the other foot, you have to think brand, customer service, performance and how much profits your company makes is all down to you. No one else.

You also have to develop your time management skills as well as mindset, as you need to be focussed with the little time you have, especially if you are building your home business like I was on a part time basis, while I still worked full time.

Welcome back to Episode 2 of my Network Marketing Journey.  Did you get the takeaway from Episode one?  Having a Plan B is important, I found out to my detriment.

So let's go hear about  the rest of my network marketing journey which is still in the very early days.  It was a Saturday  morning, I was sitting outside on the patio, sipping my Coffee wondering how I am now going to market these products that I had just bought and how would I market this so that I could quickly turn around my last £2000 which I had put down as my ' rainy day money'  into a profit, when I get a light bulb moment…

Over the next 6 Episodes which I will be posting on my blog, I want to take you through my journey of making money online, how it all started and up to where I am today. 

This has not been an easy journey, and for many network marketers, I know this is also the case.  Perserverance, and faith has bought me to where I am today.  I know working for yourself is far better than working for an employer, as you have no 'wage ceiling', you create your own earning limit as a home business owner.

I wanted to  share my journey with you so that many of you don't make the same mistakes I did, andso that you can have a smoother journey than me

It all started about 8 years ago, I still remember it vividly.  About 6 months before, I was made redundant.  Fortunately, I was in my previous job for a number of years, and got a good pay off.  Although I was a single parent with two boys, I was young enough to get another job, so I didn’t really fear doing this.

I just didn’t want to jump into another JOB straight away, so I took time out for a month to consider what I could do instead.

I had got into the habit of being around my kids again.  They were aged 10 and 5, So they found it great having mum around at home when they came home from school.  We hanged out, did mother and son things like go basketball games, or football games,  to the park, or having friends stay over (something I didn’t do when I was working as it was just too hectic to do).

Anyway I got a call from my old work place asking if I would consider a 4 month contract.  I thought about it, and had the first lightbulb moment .

To cut a long story short, I set myself up in business as a contractor, and that was the first time I began working for myself.

This was great for a few years, I always got great contracts and was making £70k a year, which was double what I made working for an employer.

I took holidays, lots of them with my kids.  I chose which days I could work, it was great…. But….

The economy changed.

We went into a semi recession. 

Companies where not recruiting contractors, they were hanging on to permanent staff.

I found myself in a situation where I did not have a PLAN B.

Many people I know now are in the same situation, working for an employer, or for themselves, but have no PLAN B in place.

SO enter Network Marketing…..

I got a flyer through the door about working from home business, and do you now, this flyer moved from the kitchen table, to the stair, back to the kitchen table for around three weeks before I got fed up with it and went online to have a look at the business opportunity.

Wow!

Sounded great, you know how they fluff it out… Work from home, be with your kids and family, earn full time income etc… SO I went for it…

Doh!

But, for me I was really surprised when the guy whose flyer it was only lived down the road on the same street as me!

And that is how I got into Network Marketing, while looking for a PLAN B, because my PLAN A had failed….

I believe that all business owners should take time out each day to learn something new. 

If your home business is making money online and you are recruiting each day, it doesn't mean that you should take a back seat and let events or others continue to build your home business.  You don't know when the rug may be pulled out from your feet.

I was reading recently in success magazine about an entrepreneur who had put all his eggs in one basket i.e. into Google PPC, and had been happily building his empire for a couple of years on leads from google PPC until one day google gave him the dreaded 'google slap' and banned him from advertising on google ever again, he found that his business dried up totall, and he was not in a good position at the time, he had just moved to a new home, his wife was expecting 'twins' at that, and he was in the middle of a law suit.  A very hard lesson to learn, but he had to quickly find another route to generate leads and make an income online.

Now with the  marketing programe I use (MLSP), they  promote  that all new recruits should look at three to four different marketing methods and the programe comes with more than 25 different sources of affiliate income, which makes me additional income and I'm not putting my eggs into one basket.

I have been the proud owner of an MLM business in the past where I had concentrated all my efforts on learning how to be effective with PPC, I found this not only costly, but time consuming, and imagine if I had gone down the route of only concentrating on one medium to create an income, where would I have been now?

I have read the book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and he brings out the values of this book so well.

The power of intention meaning, nothing can happen if you don't will it to happen.  Nothing can take place until you have the intention in mind.  Once you have the intention in mnd, then you will begin to work towards achieving it.

How many Network Marketing Companies have you honestly attempted to make money with?  Most marketers I have spoken to have worked with several different MLM or Network marketing companies before finding one that works for them.

Why is this?

The funny thing is, no matter what the company, others seem to be making an income from it, so why can't you?

I've got a theory…

You may have the best will in the world, be the ideal prospect, willing, eager and excited to get things off the ground, but there is one thing stopping you… hmmm make that two maybe.

Money and Belief!

Yes these are the two things that stop most people succeeding online. Money, because they don't learn how to generate it first before spending it on fancy schmancy pay per click ads, or advertising, or courses they don't really need. 

Let's face it when you join a network marketing company, your SPONSOR is the main contact for you within that company. They have been there done what you are already done and bought the t-shirt.  SO why not connect with them, and learn from them.  Don't you think they can teach you a thing or two?

Don't be afraid to ask for help, or support.  That is what your sponsor is there to do. If they help you, they become more successful themselves.  Do you think they want to see YOU fail?  What will they get out of it? Zilch, that's what.

So rule number one, connect with your sponsor, listen to them and learn from them. In fact go sign up to their website and email autoresponders, see what they are sending out and mimic them without directly copying them. 

Plug into training sessions that your team have, and focus on ONE marketing strategy at a time.

Now for the second failure… BELIEF

If you think you can you can, if you think you can't you won't!  Henry Ford

This is so true, the most important things are what you say to yourself. 

What you think and what you believe are vital to success, any success.

This is where mindset and personal development come in. Don't think just because you have a home business and you have products or services to sell, that you don't have to change your mindset or develop your thinking and your attitude. 

W Clement Stone (the Success System That Never Fails) advocates that what you tell yourself is key to you being successful or being a failure.  If you keep telling yourself, you can't do this, or you are no good at this, guess what you will be not good!

So, learn how to market and how to build your marketing funnel so you can fund your business and two take up personal development to develop your mind and attitude.

How to Make Double the Gains as Gold Hits $2,200

Investors can look forward to an excellent year for one very special investment: Gold.

Gold prices are set to break $2,200 in the next few months.

That's more than 25% in gains for those who buy in right now, which is nothing to scoff at – unless you know what Money Morning editor Peter Krauth knows.

If you do, those 25% gains look like child's play compared to the 100% you could earn exploiting a small group of "rubber band" gold stocks that could start rebounding as early as this month.

In fact, according to Peter's new Money Morning report, these gold stocks are stretched to the limit right now, and the slightest trigger could send them soaring.

Why? Because there's an important ratio in the gold markets that's been stretched out of shape by the boom.

This ratio – between a certain group of gold investments and the spot price of gold – has been maintained for decades.

Traditionally, these investments, which can be as cheap as $15 per share, average a 2:1 ratio with gold – meaning if gold goes up 10%, these stocks double that, going up 20%. If gold goes up more than 60% – like it did from mid-2010 to mid-2011, these stocks should go up 120%.

But the recent run up in gold prices has gone too high, too fast for these investments to keep up. And that 2:1 ratio has been thrown completely out of whack, with these stocks trading nearly sideways, despite much higher returns as gold prices surged.

That's about to change…

After more than 18 months of surging gold prices, these "rubber band" stocks have been stretched as far as strength will allow. And as they snap back, they could easily break 100% gains or higher – just to come up even with the current price of gold.
